Default which is better or are they the same??

I wanted to get some opinions.

I'm looking into getting some side steps/bar for my 2011 pilot.
is the nerf brand better or the same as the Honda OEM side steps?

I see some horribly rusted off brand running boards. While I haven't noticed OEM ones suffering the same fate.

I believe "nerf bars" is a generic term and not a brand. In my experience, the OEM steps/running boards hold up better. Our 6 year old OEM side steps still look great.
