Default 2009 Crossbar Installation Question

I have attempted to install crossbars on my 2009 Pilot.

The problem I am having is stripping out the screws on the adjustment side (right) of the crossbar. The two screws in the plastic end on the crossbar so you can adjust the length of the bar.

I have stripped out three crossbars trying to get it tight enough so the crossbar doesnt flex on that side. I even tried lubing up the screws but they still stripped out. I cant get it tight enough.

Any tips on how to get these tight without stripping? I am about ready to break down and have the dealer install a pair.

I have not had an issue with mine.
Sounds like you may have already stripped them... lubing won't help with stripped holes or prevent stripping....they do not need to be real tight. Upon installation the slight play allows you to slide the crossbars forward more easily avoiding binding with non-parallel spots in the side rails. You will notice the screws are on the bottom and damn near impossible to tighten after installation...besides the instructions don't even mention tightening them after installation.

Sorry for the post jack. What is everyone doing security wise on older models, where you have access to the screws from the top ?
