Default 2011 Front Mask

Does anyone have the front mask on their 2009-2011 Pilot? I was just wondering if the middle part flaps like ours does. We have it fit properly, just don't understand why it would do this.

I don't have the mask for my pilot, but be careful. I had one on my accord for 2 years. I took it off, it was scratched from all the dirt that got trapped underneath and the paint faded from the trapped water from rain. I would wax the area more frequent to protect it.

Default Front Mask Sucks

Uncharacteristically for Honda, the front mask for 09-11 Pilots is poorly designed as the hood portion fills with air at speed and flaps like a flag on an ocean liner.

I tried one on my 09, and used it 3-4 times before returning it to the dealer for a refund.

The problem is due the recessed, sunken area of the hood allowing air to flow under the mask and fill it like a balloon.

This could be corrected with magnets sewn into the mask, if it wasn't for the fact that the hood is aluminum.

Like I said, I returned mine to the dealer and I'm looking into getting a 3M clear mask applied, which should apply permanent protection.

You have described it exactly right. On our trip back home, we decided to only use the bottom half of the mask. We also bought the bug deflector, but we are selling that also because in order for it to stay, Honda designed it so you have to use 3M double sided tape. Not sure what Honda is thinking with the new accessories, especially those floor mats! Uugh.

Default Nose Mask and Mats

Yeah, Honda dropped the ball on the nose mask, but I'm interested in your comment about floor mats because I'm thinking about getting the factory all weather mats.

Are those the mats you were referring to, or was it something else?

We have both. The factory carpet ones are the horrible ones I am referring too. Nothing like what was in our 07' Pilot. The all weather ones are fantastic!

Same here - installed the mask on our 2011 Touring a few weeks back and have the fluttering issue as well. Have tried several adjustments without any success. Think I will be removing the hood portion as well.

Anyone have a picture of the "mask"?

I put 3M Clear Mask on the front of my 2006 Pilot. Still holding up good.

@nobby

Do you think it was a good investment? They are near $700 now and I'm having a hard time deciding if it's worth that much.
