Default Wheelskins Wrap

I'm suprised a search came up empty, but has anyone added a wheelskins leather wrap or similar?

The stock steering wheel seems thin to me on my 08 vp...

I put a Wheelskins wrap on a couple weeks ago ... it adds nice thickness to the steering wheel, plus it doesn't feel so slippery. It's a bit of a pain to install (takes an hour or so) but IMO it's well worth it -- FWIW, my wife also prefers it to the stock wheel. I got it off eBay from a guy who had bought it but never put it on his car, paid $25 shipped, which seemed like a good deal.

Yup, got the "C" size. I've been on the road a lot, so the Pilot is currently gracing an airport parking garage. Hence, no pics.

Cool. Can you upload pics when you get back home? Just want to make sure I like the way it looks around the spokes.

Thanks.

I'm finally home ...

hopefully this will give you some idea of the actual appearance, especially around the spokes. I did all this on the cheap (about 1/2 of retail), which is why I have a black skin in my tan interior. IMO it looks OK with the black center stack and black all season floor mats:

The installation instructions should also shed some light on the appearance and fit:

There is a lot of useful installation info here:

http://www.dccarcare.com/tipowk/tipowk19.html

(I don't know if this outfit is still in business, I just found the site through a Google search)

I thought about doing my installation using two sets of thread and a cross stitch, but decided not to put that much effort into it. If you decide to go that route (and I may redo mine at some point), it looks like Tandy Leather has needles, waxed cord in various colors, etc:

I'm no expert, but I think the correct lacing product would be what Tandy refers to as "waxed braided cord" and runs about six bucks a spool, which isn't bad if you want to use a contrasting color for a distinctive look. Otherwise, Wheelskins provides one needle and enough cord for the simple overhand stitch that I used.

Also, if I were to do it again I'd probably use a curved upholstery needle, which I think would make installation a bit easier than the straight needle.

Hope this helps.

Default OEM?

Has anyone installed the OEM leather wrap versus the Wheelskin? It seems the OEM is custom sized for the Honda Pilot and does not cost much more then Wheelskin? The quality of the OEM leather on my '05 Accord is very nice. Also, is the size for the 2010 the same as 2009? Any thoughts are appeciated...
