Default Rooftop Cargo Box Information

I was doing some research on rooftop cargo boxes a few weeks back and just thought I'd throw all the findings in one place in case anyone else is searching for similar topics. Here are some threads that I thought were useful:

Thule cargo box

Roof boxes, anyone using one?

Advice Needed for Rooftop Carrier

And this interactive site from one of the links above:

If people want to throw out more information about their rooftop boxes, maybe a standard format of basic information would be useful, kinda like this:

1. Make, model
2. Weight of box alone
3. Capacity, independent of cross bar capacity
4. Opening method - side, rear, etc.
5. Aftermarket or OEM crossbars
6. Tailgate obstruction/contact or not
7. Pictures, if available

Anyway, I decided on a Thule Ascent, info is below.

1. Thule Ascent 1500
2. Approx 35 lbs
3. 15 cubic feet or 110 lbs
4. Opening method - dual side.
5. OEM crossbars
6. Does not contact or obstruct tailgate opening on my 2006
7. Pictures, see below

I used this on a road trip from VA to FL and it was about 70% filled with suitcases, a folded up pack n play for my 6 month old, duffel bags of swimming gear, shoes, etc. I thought it was great, easy to load and unload for me by standing on the running boards (I'm only 5'9"). No significant loss in gas mileage, no wind noise or vibrations. Overall I'm very satisfied with it.

Hello Puppetmaster, I have the same truck and color, and I'm getting the same car go carrier, so it's almost like I'm watching the finished job on my car by checking out your picture.

I am interested in what make your running boards are, because they look sweet. Thanks.

Thanks, I appreciate. Those are original Honda running boards. Got them from HandA:

Sorry this reply is like 3 months late, haha.
