I have an 05 Pilot EX-L with RES. The only problem I have is that I don't know where to put the fog light switch. The bank of three switches on my Pilot is already full (Cruise/VSA, Sunroof, and Interior Lights).
I normally would leave the switch on all the time and just let the lights come on when required; however, I would also prefer to not "hide" the switch behind the panel so I could turn them off under certain circumstances. Thanks, Ben PS: As a second question, has anyone wired in some type of "jumper" wire that would force the lights on when the high-beams are on? |

You may have gotten a kit for a 2003 Pilot (p/n 08V31-S9V-110A). That kit has a separate switch, designed to go into the switch plate you have already described as being fully occupied. In 2005 they redesigned the fog light kit (p/n 08V31-S9V-100B), and the kit now comes with a fog light switch that is incorporated into the combination switch. The combination switch is the main lighting control just to the left of the steering wheel. The newer design combination switch now controls the parking, low/high beam, and fog lights, all in one place (see page 16 of the 2005 installation instructions, below). There is no separate fog light switch, as such, as there was for 2003 Pilots.
You can see the difference in the instructions for each kit: 2003 (page 13): https://hondacuraworld.hostasaurus.c...hlowertrim.pdf 2005 (page 13 & 14): http://www.collegehillshonda.com/ins...lot/05fogs.pdf As far as operating the fogs with the high beam on, it's not hard to do: Go to the wiring diagram on page 18 of the 2003 kit, above. Notice the wire that runs from the left low beam (on the ground side) to the 4 pin relay supplying power to the fog light switch. That relay will allow power to flow to the fog lights only when the left low beam is powered. If you jumper the wire to include both the left low beam AND left high beam, the fog lights will now be powered when either the low beams OR high beams are powered. There's one big IF, however. This is assuming that the 2003 and 2005 wiring is the same as respecting the relay supplying the fog light switch relay. If it were me, and I really wanted to have the fog lights operable with both low and high beams, I would get a copy of the 2005 wiring diagram (xerox the applicaple pages of the dealer's ETM, for example) and insure the above solution applies to your vehicle. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN risk! You could easily screw things up, of course. I guess you have to decide if rewiring high draw circuits is really worth it. It's a decision for you and you alone. NB- I have not performed this conversion, so I can't guarantee the results. Again, you are on your own! |

And bear in mind that modifying the fog lights to work either with no headlights on, or with the high beams on, is illegal in some jurisdictions. (I know it violates the vehicle code here in PA, and similarly here 'driving lights' must only work with high beams.)
