Tim (Hondacuraworld.com) has said that he will price match if possible. Tim's price is about $13 more for the same items.

Hitch: $259.40
Ball: $14.30
Handling: $3.95
Shipping: Free
Total: $277.65

Versus the $264.81 Majestic is quoting you. Hondacuraworld helps make this site possible by sponsoring it, and has an excellent reputation should you have any problems.

What actual price is your dealer quoting? They won't have shipping, but the price will be higher due to dealer markup and 10% off may not dealer price might not be a great deal.

oem hitch package is very heavy in terms of shipping. so the price is just about right.

I've ordered from Majestic before and they don't appear to have a reputation as scammers. I would attribute it to something that was missed on the website, however, if it doesn't get corrected, then maybe it is a scam to look like a lower price.

$219.81 is artificially low - I doubt Tim can do that. It's going to cost him the same to ship it, however, that cost is built into his web price.

If you really want $219.81, call Majestic and complain about it appearing to be a scam. They may honor it, but want to see if you'll pay for their mistake first.

I don't think it's a scam or a surprise e-mail. Their online ordering system is probably not setup to include weight, box size, etc. so they find out what the true processing/shipping costs are later. If they had charged your CC already and then said there's an additional "shipping amount" then I would lean toward it being a scam or unethical business practices. They did the right thing by notifying you first before processing the order.

Tim will most likely try to do whatever he can but you're best bet money-wise is to go aftermarket. Curt makes an excellent hitch that rivals the Honda accessory in terms of quality. Etrailer.com sells it for about $170 and has free shipping.

The hitch is an unusually heavy item and order systems are imperfect. You're being overly paranoid.

I know you've done your homework, but for comparison, I went with the Curt hitch from JC Whitney a couple of months ago. It fit my 2006 Pilot without any problem. The price was around $140 and JCW was running a no shipping charge special.

I was and continue to be thrilled. Installation was a cinch as well. Just make sure you chase the threads in vehicle frame before bolting things up if your vehicle isn't new.

My dealer quoted like $850.00 installed, said if the tranny went out with an aftermarket hitch they will frown on it, but my warranty is gone anyway so????????????
