Default Stereo Mute

Does anyone know if a factory 6 disc changer on a 06' Pilot has a mute wire/terminal on it? I am looking at blue tooth adapters that mute the stereo when a call comes in. I thought perhaps a fancier version of the pilot (like ex-l, we have a ex) might take advantage of such a features and maybe there's a wire or terminal available.
thanks

Can't answer your question directly, but I got a Parrot Bluetooth kit and bought the wiring harness adapter for the Pilot. It plugs between the headunit and the speaker harness. So, the calls are played over the car speakers and the radio is effectively muted as the sound doesn't go to the speakers. Only issue for those that have the factory sub is that it isn't muted.

Well that info is gold because I posted here last week wondering about a bluetooth adapter for my G/F's pilot and someone suggested checking out what Parrot has to offer. If they have a intercept harness for the Pilot's radio that'll work just fine. How do you like your Parrot? Any problems, regrets, installation issues etc? What'd you pay for your 3200 and harness?

My G/F has a 06' EX so I don't think she has a sub to worry about.

I bought my 3200 off of ebay. Forget what I paid for it, but I saved about $60 compared to Crutchfield's price. I bought the adapter from Crutchfield as they had the best price after shipping. Overall, I've been happy with it. I probably could have dropped down to the 3100 as I don't really use all of the features that the 3200 offers.

The nice thing about the harness is that it speeds up the install process. The part that took the longest was routing the microphone wire from the overhead console, down the driver's side A pillar, under the dash and to the area behind the radio. I think the whole process took less than 45 minutes.

Thanks for the info. I just bought a 3200 and harness adapter from Crutchfield. I didn't read your post about EBAY until after I purchased. At least crutchfield was cheaper than buying straight from parrot. Question: How do you remove the factory headunit from the dash in the Pilot?

I have the NAV system, so my head unit is down by the HVAC controls. Not sure about the hook-up for a non-NAV unit. There should be detailed instructions on the forum. Try a search.

You may get install instructions from Crutchfield.

Regardless, be careful using any tools. The Honda trim plastics are soft and easy to damage. I draped a towel over the center console to protect it.

OK, so I got my Parrot unit and my wiring harness adapter from Crutchfield. Everything seems plug & play except there is one MUTE wire coming from the parrot control module (with a male bullet connector on it) and there are THREE mute wires on the other end of the harness. The directions say "refer to the stereo's documentation to determine the right mute wire". That was fine, I have the Honda factory electrical troubleshooting manual. So I go to look at the pin out for the 20 pin electrical connector on the back of the radio and it does not specify a mute terminal, either used or unused.....any idea which one, Mute 1, Mute 2 or Mute 3 I'm supposed to connect? I'm going to cut the zip ties off the harnesses now and trace each of the three mute wires back to the stereo plug to see which wires go to which pins....but I get the feeling the pins the mute wires trace to will be marked "unused" in the manual.

Does the harness plug between the head unit and the speaker harness? If so, try using it without the mute wire connected. You may not need to hook the mute wire up.

Yes, it does intersect all 8 speaker wires. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to use the mute wire, that maybe the parrot unit would block the audio internally without the need of a mute wire. Did you use the mute wire? I'm assuming not? I think I may start a new post to see if anyone else has installed one of these parrot 3200's.

The nice thing is that it appears that the parrot unit is completely powered and grounded through the stereo connections. No running power/hot in acc/ground etc to sources under the dash and on the steering column. Sweet!

Yes it does plug in directly between the two. The car harness plugs in one end and the other end plugs into the stereo. every wire is intercepted technically.

I did not hook a mute up to the stereo. The Parrot harness works by cutting off the stereo feed to the speakers. Give it a try.

Well I installed the 3200 today. I did not realize that my G/F's Pilot had the factory sub, so there is the sub music when she receives a call. I also did not realize that you can only link one phone to the Parrot at a time? Is this correct? I thought I read that you can link "up to five" blue tooth devices at once. But perhaps that means it has the capability to save up to five blue tooth devices. I wanted my G/F to be able to have both her work cell phone and personal cell phone linked to the parrot module at the same time. Unless I'm missing something I guess that can't be done. Any other Parrot modules do this? I might take the 3200 for my car and get her a better model.

Also, I was thinking of using the un-used mute lead from the Parrot to energize/de-energize a relay, who's contacts would be on one lead to the factory sub. That way when the parrot mutes the radio (via the stereo wires) the mute wire would trigger the relay and shut the sub off as well. The sub isn't that noticable, but I'm really anal.
