I am considering getting a GPS for my 2007 pilot and would like anyone that has them mounted in their pilots to post pictures of it so I can see where and how people have them mounted to get ideas. Thanx

In Calif, you're not supposed to mount them to the windshield except in a 5" square in the lower left (drivers) corner or a 7" square in the lower right (passenger) corner, or on the top of the dash. Before Jan 1st, it was against the law in Calif to mount it anywhere on the windshield. I have no idea how well this is policed around the state. Here is a write up of new laws in Calif, including where you can mount GPS devices.

I have a Zumo that I bought to use on my ZZR and it comes with a car kit. Unfortunately, I wasn't really happy with any of the accessible windshield locations so I decided to try something different. Looking at the dash of my '03 Pilot, the "hole" immediately below the stereo seemed like a good place to mount the unit. With a couple of scraps of wood (2x4 and a scrap 3/8" plywood) I was able to fashion a "plug" (for lack of a better term) that slides into the hole and provides a mounting surface to attach the optional plastic base for the the windshield suction cup.

My TOM TOM suction cup keeps fallen off so I bought a bean bag style and had the suction to its center part. It come out pretty good result and won't slide away but stay where it should be. Before leaving the car, it can be put away, down to the storage ahead of 2 cup holders in center console.
The white thing on left is the toll transponder that I temporary put on a sticky mat.

I have the Garmin beanbag mount and it works great. Like said above, it doesn't move around much and it is easy to stash when you're parked.
My old suction mount didn't stay up properly, and even if you take the unit off, the mount sitting on the windshield is still indication that your could have a valuable in it. |

I use a vent mount that I purchased off of e-bay. There are several different styles and they usually cost less than $10 with shipping. I like mine since it helps keep it out of sight and doesn't leave any evidence that I'm using a GPS when I remove it. I also like having it lower in the vehicle since it doesn't obstruct my view or distract me while I'm driving.
