Default DIY Backup Sensors Installation

After totaling my 2003 Honda Pilot in Sept 2008 we bought a used 2005 Pilot to replace it. I had previously done a self-install of the OEM backup sensors on my 2003 and my wife missed it on the 2005. So I did another install on my 2005 Pilot.

I will post here some pictures in this thread of the new installation for others who want to see. Total installation and reassembly time was about 5 hours.

You can see pictures of my first install here:

First step is to remove the bumper. There are 15 screws and 4 fasteners that must be removed.

The controller connects behind the right rear panel. The third seat in the back row must be removed, disconnect the seat belt and two panels are removed.

The beepers are installed. A wire for an on/off switch is routed up the rear pillar. The controller is bolted to a cross beam.

Notice the holes in the bumper absorber. These are cut for the installation of the sensor.

You now have four backup sensors. You reconnect the battery, put in the code for the radio, train the auto window, do the idle learn procedure and test the sensors. The corner sensors have a shorter range and have a higher pitch beep than the two center sensors.
