Default Auto on/off headlights

Does anyone know if there is a place in the bay area that can make the headlights "auto on/ auto off"? Not the dealer.... they would be too expensive but after market.

I don't know why they turn on but it happens every time I rotate that thing sticking out of the left side of the steering column.

sorry joke's over

The dealer wouldn't do anything like this as its not a Honda accessory.

wouldnt be interested in having the dealer do it even if they offered that anyway.... they are too expensive. Just seeing if there are any after market places that do that type of thing. It would be nice to have.

If you're handy with electronics, tapping wires, soldering and wiring relays, you can easily do it. All you need to do is wire a photocell to a relay. The photocell will control the relay (hook the photocell to a switched 12v source, otherwise your headlights will come on when the car is off) and the relay to the battery.

This way the photocell would control when the lights come on, and you can manually override with the switch.

I would probably add some diodes in to the OEM wiring to make sure that when the photocell kicks the lights on, current doesn't flow through the wiring to the switch. You may also need some resistors depending on the voltage of the photocell and the switched source you tap in to.

Anyhow, with a little knowledge, you could do it.

The place that did your Viper install should be able to do this for you. The part you'll need is the DEI 545T.

I looked up that part and it sounds awsome. It says it does auto on/off healights by either a photcell to sense light and automatically turn them on or off (or you can disable that)... it does DRL (or you can disable that) and there was one other thing but I forgot what that was. It sounds neat... now I just have to find someone that can install it for me.

Oh just remembered the third thing it does.... it can automatically turn on your headlights when you windshield wipers are turned on and anyone that lives in California knows that it is law now that when you have to use your windshield wipers in the rain you have to have your headlights on too or you can get a ticket.

Thank you for the place to buy it..... Yeah they say to put the photo cell right in the corner of the windshield on the dash like that to sense the light good. Now I just gotta find a place near Hayward, CA where I live to do the install for me. Too many wires for me to attempt, ha,ha.... anyone know places around here that do that?

I saw it on the evening news, from last year or 2 years back. It is now required for CA drivers to turn on their headlights when the condition calls for using windshield wipers, whether rain, fog or mist.
