I read through several threads over the weeks and they all talked about how easy it was to install running boards so I opted to do it myself. I saved more than $150 in labor and another $100 buying them from http://www.fairhondapartsforyou.com based on other Piloteer's recommendations. They are genuine Honda parts - see the following pic.
One essential DIY which helped me visualize the installation with clarity was from Oahu_Dave who installed side steps: http://hondapilot.org/forums/showthr...ght=side+steps Tools needed: 13mm socket 13mm combination wrench Extension (I purchase a 6") Torque wrench (not required, but I chose not to chance stripping threads) Another thread helped me find an inexpensive torque wrench: Torque Wrench Recommendation Since I'm not much of a gear head, this one worked for me just fine. Hunting for OEM parts, I found them via Wwong's thread http://hondapilot.org/forums/showthr...light=websites

The parts were impeccably packed. Each bracket part was individually wrapped in plastic and neatly stored.

Remove them. Punch the center of them in with a thin object (I'm using my smallest philips screw driver here) and you should be able to pull them out with your fingernail

Here's a shot of the center pillar under the truck where the other side of the bracket is attached to. Notice - no clips to remove
