I just put the Hoen bulbs in my Pilot based upon a recommendation from a friend. They are great and not "too blue." They are similar to the HID lights on my Lexus. The web site is www.hoen-usa.com
The best part is they were under $50 including shipping. Good luck!

I replaced my Silverstars H4 bulbs w/ H4 Eurodezigns bulbs (6000 K) that I bought from e-bay. Check here if you want to get the eurodezigns bulbs.

BTW, welcome to h-p.org.

Can anyone give me the catalog number / part number for a brighter replacement bulb for my 2005 Pilot? I saw the web page below but I'm not sure if it's a brighter bulb. Any advice would be appreciated.

http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.co...remodel=Pilot 3.5 4WD&drivewirepart=Headlight
The correct replacement headlamp bulb size/style is 9003.

The Pilot comes from the factory fitted with Philips LongerLife bulbs.

Before you consider buying any blue-tinted bulbs, read this article:

Higher-output bulb options are:

I. +30% bulbs

Sylvania Xtravision or Philips Hi-Visibility.
The Sylvania Xtravision can be found at such stores as Wal-Mart, Pep Boys and Advance Auto Parts.
AutoZone sells the Philips Hi-Visibility bulb.

II. +50% bulb

Philips Vision-Plus.
AutoZone will be stocking the Vision-Plus series in the very near future.

Or you can buy the European spec Osram Silverstars ( +50 bulbs ) here, with free shipping to the U.S and Canada. I've had them in for over two months now, great bulbs. They are not the same bulbs as the Silverstars sold in Canada and the U.S.

Headlight replacement

Hi folks:

Just went thru all the threads/posts looking for the ideal, brightest, non tinted relacement bulbs for my '03 Pilot. It seems the more I read and feel closer to a decision the more confusing it gets.

So, yet again, I come to you all. What is the groups consensus on the ideal replacement clear, white bulb without any tinting whatsoevar.

After a while on h-p.org, you'll realize there's no group consensus on anything. Great opinions on everything, sometimes with some factual tidbits or morsels of knowledge, but consensus is ever elusive.:p

I am not the group!

But I do know what's best (Because I am the group's designated Know-It-All). :4: :4: :2:

I would go with Phillips, Osram, or Hella +50% European bulbs.

Second choice would be PIAA, but they are over priced.

Third Choice would be Phillips, Osram, or Hella +30% bulbs, or Phillips, Osram, or Hella high brightness US bulbs.

OK< I am not the "Groups DESIGNATED Know-It-All", because to designate a Know-It-All, would require consensus, and this group NEVER reaches consesus.

Well, maybe we could come to consensus that we never reach consensus, but I am sure their would be one hold out.

Heck, its a Pilot group, and we even have a Lexus RX driver among us!

I think you could get away with "self-appointed" know-it-all. You are the disburser of alleged tidbits of factual input, for sure. ;)

I'm with N_Jay on the order of preference. I've had my Osram +50 Silverstars purchased from Powerbulbs UK in the Pilot since last September and they are still working fine. Made a big difference in the lighting also.

The Osram Silverstars seems to be the likely choice over the Sylvania Silverstars. The Osrams, Philips VisionPlus, from my understanding are clear bulbs and therefore do not produce filtered light. The Sylvania Silverstar, Eurodezign etc, produce decreased output and perhaps a brighter ( read - more glare) light based on Daniel Sterns excellent review at the following link:

All those +50% bulbs are so last millennium.
Where did you find those.

I like Bosch bulbs.

Of course, as an engineer I realize that +60% will be barely noticable over +50% :4:

But more is better, right!!!!:2: :2: :2:

Are they DOT approved? Are they available here in North America?

The only place I've ever seen this bulb offered for sale is on the German ebay site. Time was when you could walk into almost any auto parts store and find a Bosch fog lamp kit sitting on the shelf. Lately, the only aftermarket parts that Bosch seems to be serious about selling in North America are wiper blades.

Unfortunately Bosch in Europe no longer manufactures their own bulbs. They have outsourced to other manufacturers and as a result the Bosch bulbs have not been doing well in tests compared to Philips and Osram who continue to manufacture their own bulbs.

To quote Auto Express

"Philips, Osram and GE supply car makers, and build bulbs to their customers' standards, which are higher than the law requires. Buy one of their packs and you get one of their bulbs. Others, such as Halfords, Lucas, Bosch and Hella, use suppliers, and regularly change them. The only way to ensure you get what we tested is to read the name etched on the base. "

There must be a +xx% marketing game going on in Germany.

A +60% bulb is only 6% brighter than a +50% bulb, and I doubt that you could notice the difference.

Moorrrrree Powerrrrrr, Ugh Ugh Ugh:2: :2: :2:
