First, the State of Florida does NOT set the price for Hondacare, the dealers are lying. All the state does is require them to have a license to sell it. Honda has set the price for their own business reasons but even then there's wiggle room. For example, I wanted the 8yr/120k mile w/$0 deductible and my dealer quoted $2880 claiming that if purchased from any Florida dealer it would be the same. When I produced a quote from Honda of Delray Beach for about 2500 they didn't know what to say. OP stated an even cheaper price.
Regardless, those prices are ridiculous when the same plan can be purchased in neighboring states for only $1300. Therefore, I "moved" on paper, had the Hondacare paperwork sent to an address in another state and then "moved" back to Florida.
There are those who claim Honda may not honor a Hondacare claim in Florida if purchased in another state. I say that's BS because many people migrate to Florida and bring their Hondas with them. From what I was told by several service guys, all Honda does is look in their system to see if the customer has Hondacare and go from there. They don't research all of your previous addresses, location of purchase or purchase price. You either have Hondacare or you don't.
