Default Armor all problems

Hi all,
I used armor all leather protectant spray on my honda pilot as recommended. I used it on the dashboard too.
There is glare (or should I say the dashboard gets reflected on the inner side of the windshield-as if a mirror is there). because of this even during day time, I get this mirror image, and sometimes it distracts me.

Right from the factory/dealer-the dashboard was not thar shiny hence I did not notice this problem.

Armor all is almost like oil hence makes everything shiny. Can somebody help me out?

cheers,
drb

Just use some soap water to clean that off. And never use Armorall after that. It's a vile substance that always leaves whatever you apply on greasy and slippery. Just look in the Detailing section and read through some of the better products to use on your Pilot.

Thanks for the reply.

I tried soap water (unfortunately used Johnson's night time bath soap for babies ;-)). It did not take away the shiny appearance left by armor all.

Can I use alchol?

There are many products listed in the threads. I am not sure which one to choose. Myabe if we had a poll, it would have been easier for novices like me.

any suggestions?

cheers,
drb

Don't use alcohol, it'll take the paint off the dash. I'd just clean it up with some Simple Green and a wet cloth, followed by a soft dry cloth to dry the dash.

I will try it again.

But any suggestions on what to use instead of armor all (that does not give the shiny coat?)

cheers,
drb

303 Aerospace Protectant or Vinylex (made by Lexol) are good choices for plastic and vinyl. Nice satin finish and lasts a long time. Not greasy and no dust attraction.

Anything but ArmorAll.

Default NO to ARMOR ALL!!!

i think the best way to find out & get the shine it had when you got it would be to ask the dealership what they put on the cars there... i did that with my Toyota Matrix and the dealership gave me the wax & leather/vinyl treatment for free... and if i ran out of it, they told me to go back there to get more... you may not get that kind of great service but it never hurts to ask right?

back to armor all... easy way to say it is that real nice waxy shine you can get it off your car causes harm on leather/vinyl in the long run... leather & vinyl needs to breathe but since armor all protectant is so thick that it suffocates the material that it supposed to protect... and the armor all creates something similar to greenhouse... it lets light/heat to come through but won't let moisture to go in or out... so after while, leather/vinyl's going to dry out... and that leads to cracking of the leather/vinyl

leather/vinyl can't breath = hardening of the material = cracking

to get armor all off... i used 409 or windex wipes...

just a thought... sorry long write in

Honda recommends not putting any treatment on the dash (for the reflective issue mentioned above). I take excellent care of my vehicles and only use warm water and a cotton cloth on everything in my vehicles and they look the same with 40k as they did new.

I clean the dash with soap and water and then I spray on Honda Vinyl and Leather Protector. Looks just like when I first got my 03 Pilot and 02 Accord.

Try looking thru this thread, it has some good info on what other piloteers use on their babies.

Hope this helps.
