Question use Pledge to clean cars?

well, i ran outta car wax so i went down to wal-mart to see what they got & i've ran into a guy that uses the furniture cleaner "Pledge" to clean his car... i didn't think that'll work so i asked him if i can look @ his car... he did have a can of Pledge in his car & yes it looked like he waxed that car really well... so i was wondering... does any body know in here if that'll cause any damage to the paint??? i mean, you can clean furnitures & leather... why not car body? what do you guys think?

Pledge will impart an outstanding shine for a few hours or until it's hot or it rains. Whichever comes first.

It provides absolutely no protection to the paint.

It has a load of silicone, and can damage trim. It won't damage the paint short-term, but very well could long-term. I'm really not certain, to be honest.

I am certain that it is not for use on cars! ACK!

ACK!

ACK!

This article on edmunds.com discusses using Pledge for Show Car detailing.

And all GM owners can buy Pledge specifically formulated for their car -- Lemon Pledge.

I beg to differ. A car crusher would improve it.
