Default detailing the interior

Hey all, great posts about the different types of exterior waxes and washes. I must say that before I got my pilot (just last week), I didn't care too much about waxing or anything. Just a hand wash was the best I could muster. But now that the wife and I bought the Nighthawk Black Pearl I want to keep it a clean and new-looking as possible. =)

OK to my question: Does anyone know of a good product to use on the interior? We have leather so one I could use for leather and the dash area would be best. I have used amour all in the past but I'm not sure if that's the best. I'm not looking for something to clean out my wallet just something which is the best quality for the money I guess.

Thanks.

I'd recommend Lexol cleaner and conditioner for the leather (two separate products) applied according to the Lexol directions, and a water-dampened soft cloth for the dash, followed by a dry soft cloth. If you use any protectant on the top of the dash, I'd highly recommend 303 Aerospace Protectant.

I use V.R.T (Vinyl, Rubber, and Tire) for the interior panels, dashboard and console.

Where do you find all these great products? Can you get the Lexol at Wal*Mart or Target? I'll be on the look out. I haven't done anything to my leather since we bought it except Pampers baby wipe it for cleaning. (I've heard this is mild enough, but I hate the residue from baby wipes) I need a good conditioning too. Thanks for bringing this up.

I tried Stoner's Trim Shine based on several recommendations on this forum, and have been happy with it.

wwong: Thanks for the free sample link! I'll give 303 a try (If it's free, it's for me )

I bet you can find Lexol at an auto parts store. I picked mine up at my local dealer in the parts department. I've never seen Lexol at Wal*Mart or Target.

Thanks, smurray! I'll check the new Auto Zone that just popped up in my neighborhood.

I buy Lexol at Pep Boys. According to their web site, you can buy it at G. I. Joes in Washington and Oregon.

This is great information, thanks for everyones input. BTW how often do you use products on your interior? Does it depend on the product or just when you have the time?

I plan to search my local walmart to find some of the products mentioned.

I'm not a great interior detail person, but I just wipe down the dash, console, and door panels with the clean side of the towel after I dry the door jambs after I wash it....its usually damp, but not wet and picks up the dust, etc. I'm also into the Griot's Garage stuff (pricey, but I like it) and I do the seats, etc. when I wax, about twice a year. I haven't used Armor All in years, and when I did, I watered it down about 1/2...and never on leather!
