Default Would adding vinegar to wash be good for finish?

Would adding white vinegar to say...Dawn help against the effects of acid rain, vinegar having such a high alkaline base?

I add a cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle about once a month to help get more soap out of the clothing. Yesterday, I oversprayed 303 protectant on the windshield, and Stoner Invisible Glass lefts streaks; a cup of vinegar in a gallon of water, and that cleaned up that mess nicely.

I probably wouldn't mix it with Dawn to wash the car, though.

Last time I took chemistry, vinegar was an acid.

The affects of acid rain are the RESULT of the acidic rain water drying on the car. Once it is rinsed off the acid is gone.
So adding baking soda to the wash won't help either.

Just use a good wax, and don't over polish, as this thins the paint.

Default No and No

Don't use vinegar on your paint. Just not a good thing. Also don't use Dawn on your paint. It can strip waxes off, which isn't good. Always use a good car wash designed for washing your car. Meguairs Soft Wash is a great wash and it's like $5 for a bottle that you can get LOTS of washes from.

If you want to use vinegar on your windows only, that's your option. It doesn't streak like water or cheap products, but there are much better window cleaners out there, which you could purchase for under $10 for a good sized bottle.

Both of the above are well worth the investment.

Adding vinegar to the wash bucket is not a sound method of cleaning the exterior of the car IMO. On the other hand, Dawn can be use once every six months to remove the old wax in preparation for complete detailing( claybar, 1 coat of Klasse AIO, 1 or more coats of Klasse High Gloss Sealant, P21S Carnauba wax)

But it's great on spinach or french fries.

Default very true....

You got me there, so then I propose this... if you're eating spinach & fries on the hood of your car, is it considered acceptable if some vinegar gets on the car then? HHhhhmmmm the great questions of life.
