Default Fabric protection

I just purchased mi Pilot EX this past weekend. I have two small kids and I'm looking for suggestions on how to protect the interior fabric against spills and stains.

Thanks

Get rid of the kids.

Just kidding! I have two as well and haven't put anything on but probably need to. I really need something for the floor. Mine is totally gross from milk/juice spills.

Scotchgard, or if you know a Amyway Salesperson they say a very good frabic protection product also. However, with Amyway you have to put up with the sales pitch to join, unless you know the person.

With Scotchgard apply it once let it dry for 2-4 hours then re-apply another coat letting it dry a good 8-12 hours. When ever I used Scotchgard I used it this way and I rarely had a stain that would not come out. My kids are 30 and 23 years old now so it been a while!

You might also get all-weather floormats to protect the floor carpet. The one problem I have is that some of them are so well form-fitted that you have to be careful when taking them out so you don't dump whatever's in there back on to the carpet you're trying to protect! I have the Husky floorliners, you can search and find threads on this.

I scotchguarded the seats as well, mostly to try to keep sweat from soaking in after a run.

If you want to go the Scotchguard route, try the Coleman Pro-Techt water repellent. You know Coleman, the camping equipment folks.

I'd found the Coleman repellent lasted longer on my photo equipment bags than the Scotchguard. The Scotchguard I used was their 'heavy duty' version.

Since getting my Pilot I've been using 303 products after hearing a couple of friends rave about them. I like the products! You might want to check out 303's HT Fabric Guard at 303products.com. Kinda on the expensive side but, IMHO, well worth it!.

Seems to me the Heavy Duty cans of Scotchguard have a statement that it is NOT recommended for fabric seats. I use this for my Stich riding gear, but use the RED CAN Scotchguard for the seats in my cage.

Didn't notice that statement. Thankyou.

I guess I may be a typical guy; don't read instructions.

Thank you very much for your comments.

I think I used Scotchguard in the past and I found that it doesn't last long. This time I will try the 303 products. I already ordered some items for the fabric and the vinyl parts as well. I found that most of the stores that sell this brand are in the swimming pool and boat sectors... ($$$). I found this place at reasonable prices.

Same experience i have with the rest on the Scotchguard, it doesn't last that long and i believe it only comes with only 6 or 8oz. Doesn't allow my to apply 2 coats.

I switch to 303 FabricGuard (16oz) since January and i can get 2 even coats on the pilot. It still protect my fabric till now, when a friend kid spill cherry soda last 3 weeks on the seat and carpet, and i manage to get rid of it without any stain easily.

Word of cautions, don't use those fabric protector that are use for the furniture or sofa, they are silicon base. Yes, they repel water but they will soak in soil.

achikay96 - I use 303 High Tech Fabric Guard on my Pilot & so far it's holding up pretty well. The 16oz spray bottle cost me $ 9.25 + tax.
