Arrrgh, I inadvertantly made a whole bunch of long pen marks on top of the centre console lid while I was talking on the cellphone.
![]() No, it don't serve me right, cuz I had pulled over into a parking lot before I made the call.I was wondering if there are any cleaners out there that'll clean off pen marks off of vinyl products? Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated. |

I always used shop hand cleaner that you buy from the auto store. Its less abrassive than acetone or paint thinner IMO.

Try rubbing alcohol. I'd skip the hairspray route - though it's touted as an ink remover, it's the alcohol in the hairspray that actually does the trick.

![]() EDIT: just realized you're ink problem is the lid. Alcohol cleaned an ink or dye stain on the lside bolster on the driver's seat when I first took delivery, so alcohol on the lif should be ok, but I'm still wary given my previous experience with alcohol removing the stain and the paint from interior plastic.

I have found dry-cleaning fluid (tri-chlor (sp?)) works on some ink. It is what is in Brake-Clean. Some wood furniture cleaners also work well. You may need to then clean off the wax, but rubbing alcohol should do that fine.

My dad owns and runs a carpet/upholstery cleaning company. Years ago (when I was a teenager) I used to work with him and the trip was to use "White Rain" hair spray. He had tried with several different name brands and that was the best one. Not sure if you can even find White Rain anymore, but good luck with it. I would spray it on a rag first and then try taking it off. Spraying the entire top might be bad.
