Default Cleaning All Weather mats?

I did a search, but nothing interesting seemed to turn up.

My OEM black all weather mats look dirty even after they have been washed. Has anyone found a good way to clean them?

My tan WeatherTec ones are looking pretty scroddy too. Thinking maybe some Simple Green and a brush might do it!!

I did clean mine last fall, I just cannot remember exactly what I used. I believe it was more than likely the Simple Green out in my garage. I do remember scrubbling them down in the shower and then hosing them off to air dry.

Hope that helps (but I doubt it.....)

I haven't cleaned the Honda mats yet, but I did successfully clean some other similar mats with simple green. And I finished with an application of 303 Protectant which brought back the dark color too. Mothers Back to Black would probably do a good job on this as well.

I just threw them out on my driveway and took my soft tire brush to them with the car wash water and hosed them off using the "jet" selection on my hose nozzle. They looked brand new.

Did you find them slippery after that? I did that many years ago with some other mats, and used armor all and found them slippery.

I just put a little bit on and wiped it right off. Didn't find them too slippery, but then I also didn't expect a lot of traction from them. I just jump in and out with out putting much foot weight on them anyway. Could be an issue though depending on how you use them. Also the type of rubber and the design would play into that. My other mats had a pattern that made slipping less likely.

Thanks, I will give it a go with the protectant. I hosed them and brushed them, but they had that dirt film on (black mats).
Gives me something to do as I watch the Leafs take the Flyers down

I'd put just a little 303 in a section and wipe it off quickly -- see how it goes. That way if it's slicker than you like, it's only in one little area.

Now you have done it. I will have to find & buy 303. I have heard so many good things about it, but cannot find it up here in usual car places (we have Canadian Tire, Walmart). I have back to Black but the 303 sounds better.

I get my 303 from REI. They may also have it through their website: www.rei.com. Cheers.

I just use the car wash soap and a stiff brush to scrub them down in the driveway and the tend to come clean. I have also used the 303 Protectant sparingly to get the deep black color back with good success...it also works well on the lower trim.
