For very light surface scratches and swirl marks, I like Meguiar's ScratchX. It's basically a light abrasive, but it works for anything that hasn't penetrated the clear coat.

All these "scratch Removers" are light polishing compounds.

They are good for looks and bad for the paint.

You are simply filing down the clear coat until you have removed the scratch.

In the end, you have less clear-coat protecting the paint.

You are taking off very microscopic amounts of clear. Clear coats tend to be fairly thick, but none-the-less, using a scratch remover should be followed up by a solid coat of a more durable wax and a top coat, that will by in large be gone in a week or two, but help to preserve the bottom coat. Its either a labor you love or hate. I used to be very critical of keeping the cars with a fresh topper coat each weekend only to have someone slam their door into it. So now I just use Zaino's stuff and leave it be for 6 months or longer. Scratches will happen regardless and you got the right stuff, but you cannot just leave it alone after you use it. You gotta put the finishing touches on.

While clear coats are thicker then in days past, cars are lasting longer and depending on how deep the scratch is you may be removing a significant amount of that thickness.

There is nothing better than the original paint with the original clear coat.

Waxing does nothing to lengthen the life of that finish. Polishing shortens its life.
