Default How to clean the leather seats?

Hi,

Just picked up myself an 06 pilot with leather.

What's a good way to clean the seats? My previous car had cloth so I just used resolve carpet cleaner on them, probably not a good idea on these new leather ones.

At target they have a meguires/turtle wax/simoniz and maybe a few other brands of leather polishers/cleaners.

Is that the way to go? Use these products and simply work them into the leather?

Thank You.

Meguiars or Mothers will work fine, just follow the directions on the bottle.

I like the results I get from the Lexol products- there's a cleaner and a conditioner in separate bottles. Follow the directions to get the best results. Sometimes, if the seats are particularly dirty, with dirt ground in, I use one of those small brushes used for cleaning nubuck shoes.

Personally I like to use the Zaino Brothers cleaner and treatments:

Z-9 Leather Soft Spray Cleaner
Z-10 Leather in a Bottle

One really cool thing about the Z-10 is that it actually smells like leather!
One bad thing is that I've never seen their stuff in any stores. I've always had to mail-order it straight from them.

If you're looking for a really good leather treatment that you can probably buy locally try Connolly Hide Food. I doubt you'll find this at your local Kragen's or PepBoys. Try looking in the parts department of your local Jag, Land Rover or Benz dealers.

Good luck!
Larry.

Default Z9-Z10

I can also say the Zaino product is GREAT!

I used it on my 09 Pilot. My drivers seat was really dirty and it cleaned it with little effort. As it says in the other post, the smell is just like leather. My friends have no idea i use the product to clean, and every time they get in my car they comment about how nice the leather smells in the car.

I tried Z-10 on my Pilot with the exception of one second row seat on which I tried Connolly. I wanted to see possible difference. Apart from nice Z-10 smell the leather after Z-10 and Connolly treatment looked great and I didn't see much of the difference. Both are very good products.
On the other hand fairly new leather may look good treated with almost anything.

I tried the Maguire's Gold Class Cleaner and Conditioner -- not impressed at all.

I'm ordering some Zaino Z-10 today.

I use Lexol and am pretty happy thus far. Keeps that new leather smell.

I'm really not too concerned about the smell -- I just want something that does a very good job of conditioning -- i.e. keeping the leather soft and preventing it from drying and/or cracking and protecting against UV.

You get the smell as a bonus with Zaino Z-10

I think you can not go wrong with Zaino, but let us know your experience.

Default Leather

On my BMW boards there is pretty universal cheering for Leatherique as the #1 best leather cleaner/conditioner. I have not used anything yet but might try one. With the Leatherique you let it sit for 24hrs in a warm car and it actually soaks into the leather, making it supple and bringing all the oils and gunk to the surface to be wiped away.

May I assume then from the rest of your experiences that Honda leather isn't "coated" in such a way that these various leather cleaners/conditioners will not work? My 2004 Pilot leather almost feels like it has a plasticky vinyley coating on top of the leather - but perhaps that is just the treatment they use.
