Question Best microfiber towels?

Hi everyone,

I've been searching around to see which microfiber towels I should buy. It seems that this topic has been touched upon in many others (like how to clean glass, prevent swirl marks, etc) but I wasn't able to find one thread just discussing the towels themselves!

So, here it goes...

I had been using cheap terry towels for washing everything except for the windows where I used paper towels. I've since bought a packet of the yellow microfiber towels from Costco. But, I've heard from others here that they tend to leave lint and I've since seen it myself!

It's now time to break down and buy some good ones. I'll need towels for:
  1. Washing the car
  2. Drying the car
  3. Applying wax to the car
  4. Removing wax from the car
  5. Applying cleaner and conditioner to the leather (interior only of course )
  6. Applying dressing to the interior plastic bits (like the dashboard)
  7. Applying dressing to the exterior plastic bits (like the bumpers and running boards). I'll probably stick with terry towels for the tires.
  8. Cleaning the windows

Now, I doubt I'll need 8 different types of MF towels for this. But, I could easily see needing at least two (one for windows and one for everything else). Maybe one more for drying the car?

It seems obvious now that I should not use the Costco ones any longer. It looks like two good suppliers for them are:

OK, any opinions out there? I don't mind spending a bit of money on them since I'm hoping this is an investment in good tools that'll last a little while (not like the Costco ones to use a couple of times and toss). I would hope that any ones I buy would be machine washable.

Thanks in advance!
Larry.

I highly recommend the microfiber towels from Poorboys World. I've used his products exclusively on my vehicles and they are by far the easiest to use with excellent results. One thing about microfiber, you get what you pay for.

I like the yellow ones at Costco, along with the house brand ones from Target.

JUST make SURE you dont use fabric softener on them.. or they are toast.

I use the Costco ones for removing wax/polish and around the door sills. I use the blue waffle weave ones from pakshak.com as well the ones from Microfiber Tech.

Yep, me too and no problems with them so far. I keep a couple in the back along with my quick detailer spray next to my duster

I second the "don't use fabric softner..." deal or you will be using them once and throwing them away.

Just to be clear, those of you who say "don't use fabric softener", do you mean the liquid stuff in the wash, or dryer sheets, or both?

I bought the Target ones in several sizes but haven't used them yet.

Both and any type of fabric softener, they will ruin your MF towels.

Hey, it was an innocent question - no need for that kind of language!

I didn't get it at first...

Yeah don't use anything but good detergent, fabric softener leaves some weird coating/film on them, I've tried it just so I knew for sure. After that, they were only good for rags.
