Default Emblem Removal

Has anybody removed the "PILOT" or the "4WD"? If so, how did you do it? And how did it turn out?

I've heard using dental floss gently behind the emblem works well. If you can heat the area first with a hair dryer too, it helps soften the adhesive. After removal, I would recommend waxing the area.

I'd recommend 12 pound test fishing line instead of dental floss, but the action is the same; you use the line to saw through the adhesive, sort of like flossing your teeth.

Removed my "Pilot" off my 05 Silver. Used dental floss. It will break a few times, but just unroll some more. One tip: place some masking tape behind the edges of the emblem all the way around the perimeter. Once you get a corner of the emblem up, you can pretty much pull the rest of it off, and remove the adhesive tape off the paint with a finger nail and some car cleaner/wax. The tape will prevent the opposite corner of the emblem from digging into the paint. I didn't use a hair dryer or anything to heat it up, but just left it out on hot day for an hour or two.

BTW, it looks great! I combined it with a generic chrome lic plate frame, so the only badging is the "H" above the licensce plate area.

Good Luck

Second pic -

Removal was a snap - used dental floss and as the car was only a month old when I did it, no adhesive residue. If there is residue when you do it, Goo Gone does the trick followed by a nice wash and a coat of wax.

Default I guess the grass is always greener . . .

Isn't it funny how people without the badges order them and put them on and people with the badges want to take them off?

anyone ever try to remove the "H"...what's behind it? holes similar to previous honda vehicles? i just don't want punk kids steeling it and damaging the car in the process.

I used some cotton twine, not even that fine. Sawed all the way behind it, no problem( for the PILOT emblem).

Talking

Might be a dumb question, but WHY? What's wrong with the Pilot emblem? Am I just that uncool now? It was bound to happen one of these days.

I'm with you! I'm leaving my Pilot emblem ON. However, I did remove the dealers self promo labels they same day I bought my Pilot. I will gladly "rent" the dealer a few square inches of space on "my" Pilot for $300 a year! Or maybe free oil changes for life would be a fair offer?

I guess some of us are minimalist in that regard. I think having so many badges on a car is getting gaudy. The mfg'r wants you to identify with their make, model & accessory level. And don't even go there on the dealers trying to put their name all over it as well. I know what kind of car it is and could care less if anyone else knew. I bought it for my reasons and you would actually need to talk to me if you want to know what it is what I think of it. I buy clothing the same way, I would rather there was little or no brand names showing. I know some want others to know what they are wearing or driving, just not I.
