***Sori for long post, I'm no good at getting to the point. It has to do with my OCD trying to be "absolutely" clear even when it just makes things worse.***
Searched but found nothing specific so I'm needing your guys' help on suggestions for a pressure washer and a vacuum cleaner? My question is what do you guys suggest for the PSI range and GPM range...What PSI and GPM for the pressure washer is safe but effective in cleaning off bug splats and bird poop on the windows, hood, and roof while also being able blast the grime off the lower side doors and bumpers ...I don't know if it can but I just wanted to use the pressure washer w/out sponging the exterior and the wheels to clean the mess off. I'm also wondering if you guys with the Mr.Clean wash kit ever use a pressure washer for cleaning and rinsing, then use the Mr.Clean filtered water setting to finish off rinse for a handsfree drying to your vehicle. My idea is that the cleaning solution has a liquid solution of wax(like any other washing solution w/ wax in it) that spreads evenly when in the wash setting, then you rinse as usual and then lastly, the secret to the spotless drying was the Mr.Clean filtered water particles in mist size would evaporate over the layer of wax left after the wash before it dried out and made spots. Filtered water from hard/tap water means none of the lime stain causing stuff is removed??? Maybe you can use any carwash w/wax solution with the pressure washer, rinse w/ the same pressure washer, but finish off w/ the Mr.Clean filtered water mist setting to ensure spotless drying? I'm lazy and doing an effective, handsfree wash and handsfree dry would be godsent...What do you guys think, will it work? Then lastly, what wet/dry car vac HP and Gallons can be effective in doing the occassional foam carpet wash/wet vacuuming on fabric and the regular weekly dry vacuuming? Im leaning on the ShopVac Bulldog, either of the 2 bulldog models come in 4.5-5HP and 5-8Gallons, any of you guys have this, its suppose to be ideal for vehicles as it says on ShopVac brand website http://www.shopvac.com/vacs/list.asp...ex&Browse=4hp. As for the pressure washer, can the lower-end electric types w/ lower psi and gpms(compared to gas models) do the job? I'd hate to buy a gas engine type if its really overkill w/ respect to psi/gpm strength and the higher price. P.S. As for you guys that ask for the pics, well I'm waiting for my torque wrench in the mail so I can put on the side-steps...I got the rearsplash guards but thats about it...I know, pretty boring setup but hope to make up for it with decent looking pics. I'm not pro with a digi cam but we'll see how it turns out.

I have a Karcher 1500 psi pressure washer ( WAY overkill for cars) I use it for yard stuff, stripping paint (which any of the high pressure models will do to your car too if your not careful... ) so really any of the simple units out there will work fine for your pilot. I only use mine sparingly like 4x a year max... the rest I do by hand, as I have not found a better way to get the grime off with low wear and tear. Even with a pressure washer, your going to see dirt still on your pilot... maybe someone has a better way, but in 20 years I have done it, good old elbow grease has no replacement.
Mr clean stuff is just a mechanism to sell you more of the dispensables.. It gets fair marks, until you need to reload it then most people give it a toss from what I have found. Vacuums are easy, Home Depot has a huge inventory and for about 50 bucks you can get a really nice one with a blower attachment.. very nice when you dont feel like drying the car off by hand, just blow the water off and touch up the areas left. |

Thanks CMasten and jl_ss, I guess I'll be doing manual cleaning till I get tired of it, then off to going back to gas station carwashes probably when the Pilot doesnt feel new to me anymore.
I'm kinda glad though that I can still cut some time off drying the car using the Mr.Clean filtered spray. Was good to know that this has worked for you jl_ss. I'll try the find the carwash soap you use, I didn't know there were solutions that didn't remove the carwax. I always thought all soaps were just made to take anything and everything off except the paint and wax was done after washing. Nice... now I can wax just 2x a year ![]() Oh and as for vacuums, yeah I think I'll just stick to the shopvac bulldog since it has attachments included unlike the other shopvac models around the $50 price. Ok ty again. |
