Default dash spots

I have a 04 Pilot EX-L. I had the car in for rattles in the dash a few months ago. They scratched the dash while in the process of fixing the rattle, so I had them replace the whole dash.

The new dash has some spots on it that look "shinyer" that other parts. I guess a good way to describe it is that there are some spots that look like they have armorall on it. I've scrubbed and scrubbed with damp towel but cannot seem to get the dash a nice even look. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My friend had suggested putting leather conditioner on it and rubbing it off but it doesn't make sense to put conditioner on plastic.

I guess it's not that big of a deal but it does annoy me. Any help would be great.

Have you tried to armorall the rest of the dash to even out the shine OR you could use a little rubbing alcohol to see if you can remove the shiny areas. Be careful with the rubbing alcohol, it can fade the plastic.

Trust me, rubbing alcohol on any Pilot plastic is not a good thing, as it will rub the black off, and likely make a shiny area worse. I used just a small amount to clean up the console area, and the rag turned black.

I'd take it back to the dealer and have them get their vinyl and leather repair dude in to fix it, or try to find a Dr. Vinyl in your area and get a quote from them.

I would NEVER use Armorall on the dash. I have had very good luck with Mequires vinyl/rubber conditioner (#40).

YMMV

Good luck gogo!!!

Aerospace 303 protectant is excellent for interior plastics:

same folks that make Lexol for the leather make a great vinyl/plastic cleaner and protectant. It does make it shiny however, so I don't use it on the dash, but everywhere else on the car.

http://www.lexol.com/newauto.html

This should get the plastic all one color you can always buff it off really well after it sits for an hour or overnight to take some of the luster off.

I used Zaino Z-10 on my dash, not too shiny but enough to cover greasy fingerprints, (also smells great)....

How about using a dash cover? I have one and it looks good. It costs about $35.

I think dash cover is a good solution to protect your dash from UV rays. Where did you buy your dash? And how is the fit? Can you post a photo? I also have an issue on the dash of my pilot specially during summer where there is glare reflecting from my dash.

Thanks,
