Engine / 6 Speed Transmission Issues

I have a 2016 EX-L and lately noticed the the engine will periodically shake when I'm at a complete stop. Has anyone experienced this?

I've also noticed that the transmission feels rough when changing gears and didn't have the issue when I first bought it

Could be a problem with the torque converter. It's under warranty. Get it checked out.

Best to record a video of your experiences before bring it to the dealer. Because it may not act up when you bring it to the dealer.

If you shift into 'N', would shake stop? My another car, a VW, vibrates when in 'D' and stops at red light. Vibration stops when shift into 'N'. It's a worn drive axle.

I have 2017 EX-L and I have similar experience as you mentioned. But my suv is brand new with 400 miles on it so far...
So is this normal or should I take the car to dealership?
And, is this something related to VCM on V6 engine?

Worn drive axle? AFAIK drive axles don't turn when the car is stopped. Please explain.

VCM shouldn't produce noticeable vibration at any speed. If it does, there might be a problem with the active engine mounts that are supposed to cancel the vibration.

So, are you saying I should feel no vibration at all at a complete stop, is it correct? I going to take it to dealer. Thanks!

When gear is in 'D' or 'R' and car is stopped, drive axles do not turn but they are engaged and are under drive force. Brake keeps car from moving forward/backward. A worn axle that has developed free play would vibrate under the force. When gear is shift to 'N', drive axles are no longer under force. Vibration stops.

It took me several months to find the cause. I cleaned/replaced PCV valves and pipes, throttle body valve, MAF, replaced spark plugs. None worked. Finally found a post on VW forum. A guy had exact same vibration and he fixed it by replacing CV axles.

I stopped by at honda dealer service dep today and spoken to a service director. He said the periodical shaking may come from the engine cooling fan that need to start cooling the engine. But the slight vibration on the wheel is normal on Pilot (when in "D" at a complete stop ), since Honda, unlike premium brands such as BMW, does not have the same level of insulation, so that you may feel it.
He asked me if I still wanted to get my vehicle checked, and I just said no and drove my car away...

It's easy to hear the secondary engine cooling fan ( there are two ) if you roll down a window. It will cycle on and off when it's hot, especially if the A/C is running. So you should be able to verify if that's what you are feeling.
That doesn't explain rough shifting.

Thanks for all your he great info. I'm setting up time to take the Pilot into the shop. I think I have a transmission issue, last night after backing up the car took about 10 seconds after I put it in drive to get into gear

Got the Pilot back from the dealer and there was a software update for the 6 speed transmission. I guess the 9 speed isn't the only one with a problem

Hi, could you share more details of the software update? Does it apply to 2017 6 speed transmission? Thanks!
