Thumbs down Rust under door sealing-Boom

Some of you might still remember I posted something last year about the rust on the doors, if not you can find my post here:
Rust in door-This is going to be a big problem.

The dealer fixed that problem although they have delayed my case for a long time. ( I found one of the holes start to develop rust again, bad)

Well, I found more rust last week when I was trying to clean my car, at least 3 of my doors have serious rust issue under the door sealing, please see the attached pictures for my information. One of them just started showing rust. I called American Honda and they have this documented, but they refused to give me extended corrosion warranty. I will need to take the car to the dealer again. Any suggestion? I like this car but this is giving my too much trouble.

Look at yours!

Yes, I remember your previous post very well regarding the pin drop of rust. How is the original spot holding up? It doesn't look like your Pilot is falling apart or crumbling into a pile of rust.

Since you have documented the "rust" with Honda and have taken pictures, I'm curious if you are able to wipe the area in your first image clean. What does it look like underneath?

I hate to be the pessimistic person to respond, but could the orange remnants be something other than rust? Could it be lubricant for the rubber moulding or sealant that bonds the two metal that makes up the door? Your first picture, at first glance would be the most concerning (not concerned with the other photos). But, I would be curious to know what it looks like once you wipe away the "rust". It appears that it might wipe away clean. Just my opinion of course.

This is rust for sure, I can feel the rust and metal with my hand. I am taking this to the dealer. Since not too many people reply this thread I hope this is just my car's problem.

I believe most people just never peeled the sealing and checked. Maybe I should do it in a warm day...

Good advice. People that had the tailgate leaking issue should check the weatherstripping on the bottom as well.

If you can't convince them, confuse them.

Went to dealer today and they took some pictures, will call back next week to see. This is very time consuming.

Well, after couple of months, I have not heard back from my dealer so I contacted american honda again about this issue, now they have a case manager who is following my case and calls me every week to update the status of my case.

New update: dealer called me saying american honda have received several similar issues and they are going to send someone down to my dealership to look at my car, still waiting.

If I can get my money back , I will choose another car, or maybe just buy a used one. it just does not worth it to buy a new car and go through all these.

If I can get my slowly oxidizing body out to the car, I'd better check under that weatherstrip. Thanks for the heads-up. But what the heck made you think to look there?

Just out of curiosity, is the car garaged? I'm not implying that should be necessary, but there must be a lot of water condensing or seeping into the vehicle. It does raise question about the quality of the steel and/or anticorrosion treatments. Back in the day, Toyota Corollas had a reputation for running forever, if you didn't mind the doors falling off. Literally.

Nothing like that beneath the weatherstrip at the top of my doors. Just pristine painted metal, in the same color. FWIW the car is garaged most of the time.

I was trying to clean my car after winter. My car was garaged all the time, I don't believe this is just my "luck" to have this. American Honda claimed at the very beginning that they had never saw this kind of report before, but now they have "some" reports, so that's why they are sending someone here. You will never get a reply by talking to the dealer, you have to call american honda and have someone watch your case and report back to you.

BTW, I don't believe the garage thing, this is a car and it supposed to stay outside for most of the time! we only had couple tiny snows for the past two years.

Hope you guys will not have this issue.
