Father Hurley is now Monsignor Hurley...

...one of the few individuals who is still alive and has a road named after him. I believe he is/was a pastor at one of the local Kemotown churches (I used to know more about him, but time has taken its toll on my brain cells).

Lisa Baden in the morning and Bob Marbourg in the afternoon are fixtures on my radio during my commutes!!!

Pretty cool. Interesting that Maryland has Father Hurley Blvd., and Virginia, near Redskins Park, has a section of Route 28 called Darrell Green Boulevard. While Darrell will never be a Monsignor, he has done great charitable work, in addition to being, my prediction, a first ballot Hall of Fame NFL player.

And I cannot tell a lie. Weather and traffic on the 8s is my motto. I've listened to XM channel 214 for traffic reports a couple of times, but it just doesn't cut it. A day without Lisa Baden is a day without sunshine. *

* Anita Bryant, forgive me. I prefer a spicy V8.

jay: Have you ever noticed that MOST of the traffic reporters on the 8's are named Robert?

1. Bob Gotkin
2. Bob Immler
3. Bob Marbourg
4. Robert Workman

Funny, isn't it. Makes it easy for the news reader to go to traffic, dead silence, followed by Bob, are you there?

Of course, over on another station, the same 4 guys are called Fred something, and they all work for Jim Russ at Metro Traffic. Every now and then one of them will forget which station they're reporting for, and use the wrong moniker for themselves. But you only hear Lisa The Traffic Babe Baden and Bob Marbourg on WTOP.

My favorite traffic reporter back in the 80s was Walt Starling, a free-lancer who piloted his own plane. Here's wishing him well in his recovery from recent cancer surgery.

I drove by that place earlier today and took some snapshots to give you an idea of what it looks like...

Well, we did narrow it a bit, to a Saturday in October. Since the 30th is Halloween weekend, and parents will be busy with ghosts and goblins, lets avoid that Saturday. That still leaves the 2th, 9th, 16th or 23rd.
