Okay, now we're making some progress. That's not "borrowing", that's "renting".
But seriously, I don't know what would be fair compensation to the other party for the inconvenience of allowing someone they don't know (you) to remove the hitch from their Pilot, install it on yours, use it for a day (or so) and reinstall it on theirs afterward. I would think it would not be very much different than the cost of just purchasing the hitch alone (<$300). Chances are, once you put it on, you're not gonna want to take it off, especially if there's ever the possibility you'll need it again. More likely, you'll spring for the wiring harness, if not the AT and PS coolers. It's just not the kind of thing one would normally install for one-time use. Of course, I don't care what sort of agreement anyone else enters into, or what they do with their money or possessions. It just seems like a very unusual proposal. I didn't mean to come across as disparaging your first post. Welcome to the forum and good luck in your pursuit.

I'm in Nova Scotia Canada, so way too far to help but it might be helpful to clarify a few things.
Do you want the whole Hitch? If so, you should consider that what you are asking for would mean someone has to take a few hours to unbolt theirs from their vehicle, then the same (or more) for you to install on your vehicle. And then the same amount of time to reverse the whole procedure. Lets say about 8 hours total ('cause you'll get really good at it after the 2nd or third try). Also I wouldn't suggest towing another vehicle without installing AT LEAST the transmission cooler.... so that's another couple of hours of work (did you want to "borrow" that too?), plus a fair amount of dis assembly of the front end fascia... times doing it on your vehicle and swapping out and reinstalling in the original vehicle again.... (we're looking at some serious time now). You'd be WAY better off calling a tow truck to move your vehicle I expect. BUT, if in fact what you are looking for is the hitch post (insert) and ball to fit into an existing (installed) hitch on your vehicle.... that's a way simpler request (but not what you asked for) and I expect there's a bunch of folks who might be in your area and up for a loaner. As for this forum.... I find the frequency of reply's directly related to the clarity of the request. Good luck. Let us know how the vehicle move goes... I'm really looking forward to following your adventures (from afar). |
