Anyone tried spacers? I have the 20" wheels, but they are too tucked in. It makes them look too small.
I come from the GT-R world; we use spacers all the time. (Only the good ones with hub centric rings that bolt onto factory studs and provide new studs to bolt the wheels to.)
No smart ass response from me... I have the same feelings. I love the 20" rims, but I wish they weren't tucked in so far. I used spacers on my VW Jetta with no issues.
(I like to build out too.. My little 1.8T Jetta ended up AWD making just under 400 at the wheels)
if you have extended warranty and there is a wheel bearing issues, you can remove the spacers and take to the dealers to replace the bearings. How will they know you have spacers on since you don't replace the lug nut studs.
Why do people wanna change these things that are clearly gonna cause problems down the road? These are designed by engineers to look and fit like they do for a reason Id think. These mods are bound to affect the handling, Bearings, Track,,softness or harshness of the ride..
Wow,ever heard of hot rods,SEMA,individuality? It's not "clear" to me these things are going to cause problems. Been working on cars and stuff 40+ years and seen plenty of screw ups by engineers.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels the same way about the factory wheel and tire package. The wimpiness seems even more pronounced since we added on running boards and bodyside molding.
I'm used to driving mostly European vehicles where they are good about pushing the wheels out enough to give a clean, aggressive look
Please post pictures and details if you end of doing this. Thanks!
2016 Pilot Elite black/black
Added lighted running boards/front and rear lower trim/body side moldings and chrome door moldings.
I read somewhere that some aftermarket brake rotors do push the wheels out, like a spacer. It was on a Nissan Sentra SE-R (B15). Not in the thickness of the rotor, but where the hub is.
So I ordered 20 mm bolt on spacers today. They have to be custom made, there is nothing available off the shelf for the 2016 pilot. Takes a week to be made, then shipping.
It was $285 from motorsporttech.com with tax and shipping.
They make them to order, exactly to your spec; from 15 mm on up. They are hubcentric to the hub and wheel centric to the wheel to prevent vibration. They come with a set of lug nuts to bolt the adapters onto the hub, then you bolt the wheel to the adapter with the oem nuts.

5 by 120 bolt pattern
64.1mm hub
Michellen Latitude Sport Summer Tires 275/45r20
0.3% larger diameter than stock
Approximately 5lbs heavier than stock
No issues at all at 45mph+. At slower speeds, there appears to be more play in the steering. Ride is stiffer. Fantastic on turns. Very sensitive to variations in road at slow speeds (tram-lining). Going to have an alignment performed next week.
I like the look of it. Anyone know what is the specs for those wheels and tires? Can't find any of those accessories, except wheels, online. Are they being manufactured just for the SEMA show?
