It's helpful if you include where you are located in your profile so it shows up for others when asking questions about your area.

Here on LI, the only place I can think of to do any serious off-roading is the beach. You need a permit from the state parks commission for the few places it's allowed.

And I don't think you should try anything too ambitious. I've heard of much more capable vehicles than the Pilot getting bogged down. Low gearing (and experience) is a must in loose sand. Just a few spins of the wheels and the chassis is sitting on the the ground. Bring a tow rope so some of the other guys can help you out while getting a few laughs from the neophyte.

Edit: You ever see those Land Rover commercials that show the rock courses at their dealers. I wonder if you can get in there while the place is closed and tool around a bit.

Angry top end noise w windows open

I have noticed a sort of rumbling noise, I think created by a vacume that results when traveling fast with the front windows open.
I open the rear windows ( which does not always please those seated in rear seats) to stop the sound. I would like to know if there is another way to eliminate this.
Otherwise this is a terrific vehicle, very safe, comfortable affordable to run. I have mine for about 11 months already.

It's been discussed many times. It's usually an issue with the rear windows, not the front. From my read of all the posts, you've found the only solution. Me, I keep al lthe windows up all the time, except when I enter or leave a parking garage that requires me to swipe my entry card, or at drive-throughs to retrieve my order.

Now back to the original topic, off-roading.
